I Have Seen. God Is Exactly Who He Says He Is.

How can one describe in human words and understanding the magnificence and grandeur of the Living God? How can one possibly put into the confines of human language that which man cannot even fathom without the gracious spirit of Jesus? What I have seen and experienced firsthand may seem as mystical craziness by the critic and blaspheme by the Christian. Yet what can I do? I stand here after many years of communion with the Living God, the Great I Am, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and with His Son, Jesus, the Christ. I’m wondering how to even begin to articulate a fraction of what has been revealed to me in a coherent matter to people who are too […]

Accepting God’s Mystery

“Hope is found within My complete control and unfathomable wisdom, within My mystery as you say. Depression is not trusting Me to work all things to good, especially outside your understanding.”

“Just take a moment and wait… with Me.”

I stand beside Him. Immediately my mind begins to wander, I stop the thought and go back to Jesus. Normally I look up at Him eager to learn something new: something about Him, about His truth, His word, something for me or the church. This time is different. I reach up to hold His hand and just stand with Him, waiting. His brilliant light surrounds us to the point I see nothing but extreme brightness. I wait and rest within the only understanding I […]

How to Hear From Jesus

God speaks through His Spirit with those who abide in Him (John 14:15-27, Gal 5:25). What is interesting is if we are not led by God’s Spirit, we are not His children (Romans 8:14). As we seek to have a right relationship with God and abide in Him, we begin to commune with Him as a friend (John 10:27, Revelation 3:20).

Your relationship with the One who created and designed you (Psalm 139) will be unique as well as a journey. As we see in Scripture, God speaks to each of His children differently:
Moses – By voice and a burning bush (Exodus 3ff), and then later face to face as a friend (Exodus 33:11).
Joseph – Given interpretation for dreams (Genesis 40)
Zechariah […]

The Essence of Joy

If you want something bad enough, you will seek it out.
If you don’t want it, you will refuse to allow it in.

For the past few months I have been on a journey regarding Joy. I have to admit, I had to break through a lot of lies I have been taught and barriers in my life during this journey. I wanted to know why does a baby laugh to tears at the simplest motion. Why do animals play? Where does our humor come from? Nutshell… where was my humor, my laughter, my joy? Then this week happened and I experienced  joy during the tragedy. It is a moment that I pray I never forget. I can now say confidently, […]

What Am I Thinking About?

Sometimes it is hard to be a follower of Christ. Especially when his teachings can be hard for us to follow. Let’s take a look at a sermon Jesus gave…
Read Mark 7:1-23

Why is this teaching hard?
What is Jesus communicating here?
Am I really accountable for my thoughts?
Is it even possible to control my thoughts?

Let me share this verse with you.
Jeremiah 17:10, “I the LORD search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”
Read also Psalm 7:9, Jeremiah 11:20, Jeremiah 20:12,
Rev 2:23b  And all the churches will know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works.

How do […]

Where Is God’s Comfort?

Last week we talked about comfort and our need to ask God for comfort. Let me review that a little bit and kind of break that down again.

When we are struggling with pain and suffering, all we really want is for it to stop. We ask God to take care of it. If nothing happens we start bartering with God, then we please and beg. Get mad. When nothing happens we will look for a sin issue, or try to work up our faith to make it stronger.

Then we start to get really upset, maybe at God, or the situation, others or even ourselves. This is when it can feel like we’ll never be okay again. We may feel like our […]

Dreams Of Peace Becoming Reality

Today as we celebrate one of this nation’s greatest advocates for equality, I stand in awe at Martin Luther King, Jr’s consistent posture of peace, even in the midst of aggressive attacks. Today, interracial tension seems to be everywhere according to the news reports. I wonder though, are we letting ourselves see and acknowledge the evidence of positive change that Martin Luther King, Jr breathed into existence in his famous speech, I Have A Dream. As I travel around this nation and watch people interacting in various situations, of various ages, and various cultures, I rejoice that Martin Luther King, Jr’s dream is alive and overcoming this nation’s past.

Are we there yet? No.

Can we currently see his […]
