It is easy to get caught off guard or swept away by the world and situations we find ourselves in. It seems to be almost a constant struggle to not let them control us or build within us an overwhelming anxiety. My life is filled with demands from what seems like every direction. And they all seem to press with an intensity that I cannot bear on my own. It is at those times Jesus gently reminds me of His priority – to be right with Him. 1 John 1:9 tells us all we need to do is repent and He will forgive us as well as cleanse us from all unrighteousness. In other words, our sin, our shame, our guilt and everything that comes in between us and Jesus is washed gently away. What a great blessing!
Find a way to set time aside for your relationship with Jesus. Whether you journal, read His Bible or just talk to Him in prayer, God will honor you seeking Him. His Word says if you draw closer to Him, He will draw closer to you. (James 4:8)
As His soft calming voice speaks into my spirit calling me to Him, will I listen?
